Subject: Important information about your MVIS licence renewal for 2024.
Recently I wrote to you to advise of the Ministry of Transportation’s (MTO) decision to extend the current Motor Vehicle Inspection Station (MVIS) Program to allow more time for MVIS clients to transition to the new DriveON program.
As a result of MTO extending the current MVIS Program, the ministry has also made the decision to waive the MVIS licensing and technician fees for 2024 (January 1st to December 31st, 2024) to ease financial and administrative burden for MVIS clients as they transition to DriveON.
In order for the ministry to waive these fees and ensure your licence remains active in our system, your licensing and technician fees must be paid in full for the 2023 calendar year (January 1st to December 31st, 2023).
Additionally, should you need to add or remove technicians from your MVIS throughout the 2024 calendar year, you will still be required to submit an updated “Registered List of Technicians”, however, you will not need to include a fee payment for that transaction.
If you have already submitted your renewal application for your MVIS licence for the 2023 calendar year, there is no further action required on your part.
To ensure you are receiving the most up-to-date information regarding the MVIS and DriveON programs, it is important you have a current and valid (correct spelling) e-mail address on file with the MTO. To update or correct your e-mail address on file with us, please email mvis.civa@ontario.ca.
If you have any questions about the new DriveON program, please contact the Vehicle Inspection Centre Assistance Line toll free at 1-833-420-2110 or email VIC@driveonportal.com.
If you have any questions about the MVIS Program, please contact MTO toll free at 1-800-387-7736 or e-mail cvor@ontario.ca.
Sincerely,
